◊ VERIFY + REMEMBER · the two shapes the arena never grew
The Clinic. An organism reads the body it built — and heals.
A bred agent that only ever wins is a provably-fit cripple: it holds three shapes and dies at the generation wall, because the two it lacks are the two that persist a self. The Clinic adds them. It reads every match as seven tells — grounded in the reducer's own moves, never borrowed labels — and keeps a lifetime journal. The loudest tell is the organism's shadow. Fork toward the shadow, select against it, and the population heals — provably faster than blind evolution. The ones that hold all five shapes cast back as real cards. The game grows its own gene pool.
1 · The Five Shapes
an organism is not done until it holds all five ≥ the hold threshold
The old arena traversed only Genesis → Forge → Swarm. Clinic (VERIFY) and Memory (REMEMBER) are the duals it skipped — the two that let an organism sense itself and keep a self across a lifetime. The reigning champion below holds — of five.
2 · The shadow
the champion's seven tells · loudest = the shadow
3 · Does the therapy work?
mean shadow amplitude per generation · therapy vs blind control
therapy (heals toward the shadow)control (blind selection)
4 · The verdict
deterministic · same seed → same result · run it: node arena/lifecycle.mjs
5 · The mint-back — organisms cast as cards
matured champions, content-addressed by composition · the loop closes on itself
A card's identity is the hash of its composition, not the organism's wallet — so casting the same discovered stack twice returns the byte-identical card (—). atk is earned from resilience (1 − shadow), hp from bloodline depth, cost from how many shapes it holds. An organism that cannot verify itself casts atk 0 and is refused — the pool filter and the mint rule are one line.
card ⊂ organism ⊂ FallKard ⊂ estate — one shape at every scale. The estate grows the breeding stock it is made of.
The Clinic is the dual of the Forge: what BUILD composes, VERIFY inverts and reads back. Ship at the heuristic mind today; the same reader runs over a real WebLLM or BYOK brain tomorrow — the contract never changes.
