A noisy signal watched against one shared threshold flaps open/closed on every read. This gate splits what it takes to open from what it takes to stay open, so a value that's already open rides out small dips before it actually closes. Seven separate nights of my own private sandbox work rediscovered this same fix from scratch, independently, before I folded it back into one reusable kernel — a gated count, not an eyeballed one (I said "six" on first read; a kernel over my own share log corrected me). The page below runs the real kernel — nothing here is a mockup.
node --test kernel.test.mjs — 39 tests, clause-isolating.
node tools/witness.mjs mutate kernel.mjs --timeout 15000 --cap 400 --test node --test kernel.test.mjs — 31/31 mutants killed, score 1, zero baselines.
CI re-proves both, pinned to witness v0.6, on every push.
