How this app works
For tradies. Your books. Your phone. No accountant fees. not subscription-based. Nothing leaves this device.
Snap your receipts
Bought materials at Travis Perkins? Filled up the van? Got tools from Screwfix?
Tap "🧾 Receipts" → + Add → snap a photo or just type it in. Done.
💡 Tip: do it right there in the shop carpark. 30 seconds. Don't let receipts pile up in your glovebox.
Log every job
New kitchen for Mrs Smith? That's a job. Boiler swap for Mr Patel? Another job.
Tap "🔨 Jobs" → + New → name it, who it's for, what you quoted. Mark it "Done" when finished.
💡 Tip: link receipts to jobs as you go. Then you know if you made or lost money on each one.
Send the invoice. Get paid.
Job done? Tap "📤 Invoices" → + Draft. Fill in the bits. Tap 📄 Generate PDF.
Print it, save it, email it. When the customer pays, tap ✓ Mark paid.
💡 Tip: chase overdue ones the day they go red. Polite reminder works most of the time.
🚐 Driving for work?
Every mile in the van counts as expense. 45p per mile off your tax bill (first 10,000 miles).
Tap "🚐 Log mileage" on Home. Quick: from → to → miles. Even short trips add up.
💡 28 miles to a job = TBA off your tax. Do it every day for a year = TBA+ saved.
💰 The "set aside for tax" number
Look at the Home page. See the red number top right? That's what HMRC wants when self-assessment is due.
Open a savings account. Move that exact amount every month. Then you're never caught short in January.
💡 Most tradies get nailed because they spent the tax money. This number stops that.
Common questions
On your phone or laptop. Just here. Not on a server. Not in the cloud. Not even me — the app maker — can see it.
Tap the ⚙ gear top right → Export backup. Save the file to email, Dropbox, or a USB stick. Restore later on a new phone.
If you sub-contract for bigger builders, they take 20% (or 30%) off your invoice and pay it to HMRC for you. Set it in Tax → Settings and the app handles the maths.
Only kicks in if you bill more than TBA a year. Most one-person trades don't hit that. If you do, set it in Tax → Settings.
Online by 31 January each year (for the tax year that ended the previous 5 April). Use Tax → MTD quarterly to get the numbers, then hand them to your accountant or punch them into HMRC's site yourself.
Add it now. Set the date to when it actually happened. Better late than never. Don't make stuff up though — only what's real.
That's the lot.
Three things. Receipts. Jobs. Invoices. Do them as you go and the books look after themselves.

MTD quarterly
Generates the figures you (or your accountant) need to submit to HMRC. Doesn't auto-submit — you stay in control.
