UK divorce self-help · England & Wales · Scotland · Northern Ireland · not a lawyer

🛟 If you are in danger or experiencing domestic abuse, your safety comes first. Free, 24/7, confidential: 0808 2000 247 (Refuge National Domestic Abuse Helpline). Emergency: 999 (if you can’t speak, dial 999 then press 55 from a mobile). Abuse can exempt you from mediation and may qualify you for legal aid.

How it works

Two engines, deliberately separate:

🔒 Deterministic engines (in your browser). Eligibility, the divorce timeline, the Child Maintenance calculation, the s.25 financial factors and the case-law strategy all run as plain code on your device. No data leaves your browser. Same inputs → same answer, every time — because the law and the CMS formula are rules, not opinions. Every figure and case is sourced (see Case library).

🧠 The AI analyser (your choice of engine). To pour in the messy pile of a real divorce — emails, statements, a jumble of facts — you choose how it’s read:

Either way the AI is grounded in the verified corpus above — it is instructed to use only the real, cited authorities in this tool, to stay even-handed (every argument gets its counter-argument), to keep any child’s welfare paramount, and never to invent case law. It is a drafting aid, still not advice.

Start — where, and can you apply?

Timeline (England & Wales)

No-fault since 6 April 2022. From the application being issued: 20 weeks to the conditional order, then 6 weeks + 1 day to the final order. Court fee £612.

Child maintenance estimate

Standard CMS (2012 scheme) formula. An estimate — confirm on the official GOV.UK calculator.

Case strategy — cited arguments (England & Wales)

Tick what applies. This maps your facts to the real, cited authorities — each with its counter-argument and the evidence you’d need. Argument scaffolding, not a prediction.

Analyse your data (AI)

Paste the messy pile — a timeline, emails, a witness statement, whatever you have. The analyser reads it against the s.25 framework and the cited cases and returns a structured analysis + a draft position statement. Choose your engine — this is where the privacy choice lives.

Not loaded — click download. First time pulls the model (a few minutes); after that it’s instant and offline.

Your route to advice — how this levels the field

This tool is built to get you from “I can’t afford a lawyer and they can” to represented, or well-prepared. Two moves matter most:

1 · Make them fund your lawyer — a Legal Services Payment Order

If the other side has money (or family money) and you don’t, you can apply under MCA 1973 s.22ZA for an order that they pay your legal costs so you can be represented. The principles are in Rubin v Rubin [2014] EWHC 611 (Fam). Family-funded opponents are the classic case for it. Take the “Level the funding field” output above to a solicitor.

2 · Walk in prepared — turn hours of a solicitor’s time into minutes

Use this tool to arrive with your facts sorted, your numbers run, and the relevant authorities already identified. A first appointment then costs a fraction and goes further. Generate a position statement in the analyser and bring it.

Free & low-cost help:

On the pension: for anything serious (like an Armed Forces pension) insist on a PODE (Pension on Divorce Expert) report and a CETV — that is specialist work no self-help tool replaces.
